Azúcar y Sal blends jazz, funk, and rock/pop, with touches of classic rock.
Recorded from October 2020 to October 2021 and produced by Allison Salazar, this is the debut studio album from Mexican vocalist Ellie De la Fuente.
The album narrates a familiar love story—full of bittersweet moments—tracing the arc from first infatuation to eventual separation.
The title track, “Azúcar y Sal,” is a nostalgic piece that contrasts the depth of love you can feel for someone with the disappointment that the high expectations of a new romance can bring.
Originally written in 2016 by Allison Salazar, the song was later co‑authored by Ellie in 2020, who contributed fresh vocal and lyrical arrangements.
