Pancho Salazar DJ
Francisco Xavier Salazar Ramón, known in the nightlife as Pancho Salazar DJ, began spinning and mixing records in Mexico City discotheques in 1982. From his very first nights behind the decks he stood out for his instinctive feel for the floor, a deep knowledge of records, and the ability to read and lift a crowd.
Over more than four decades he has built a career defined by consistency, musical curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to making every set memorable.
As a resident DJ, Pancho Salazar held the booth at some of Mexico City’s most iconic venues, including News Toreo, Jubilee, Magic‑Circus, Bananas Ranas, La Boom!, Tequila Boom!, La Altura, Papa Bill’s, Martini Bar, and many others. Those residencies allowed him to refine his craft night after night, developing seamless transitions, dynamic pacing, and a reputation for keeping dance floors full from opening to close.
His presence became synonymous with nights that people remembered long after the lights came up.
Pancho’s sets are defined by a wide, genre‑spanning palette: disco, funk, pop, rock, new wave, dance, and electronic crossovers.
He is equally at home dropping the biggest anthems and unearthing hidden jewelries, weaving together tracks from the 1970s through the 2010s into journeys that balance nostalgia with discovery. His selections and mixes celebrate both the familiar hits that unite a room and the rare cuts that reward attentive listeners.
Across four decades, Francisco “Pancho” Salazar has left an indelible mark on Mexico City’s nightlife. Respected by peers and beloved by generations of clubgoers, he is remembered not just for the music he played but for the way he shaped nights—turning ordinary evenings into lasting memories with taste, timing, and heart.
